A refreshingly clear approach to your financial planning

Our Investment Process

We follow a logical step by step process when providing independent investment advice to our clients.

Your adviser will ...

  • discuss your needs and determine your attitude to risk and capacity for loss,
  • clarify the timescale over which you wish to invest,
  • follow a clear process for selecting suitable investments based on Financial Express information,
  • make sure you fully understand the advice given before you implement your plan.

Arcaria advisers do not ...

  • have a favourite fund manager
  • select funds purely on past performance
  • jump on 'bandwagons' or follow the fad of the day.

Everything we do is well considered and structured.

  • Firstly we will take the necessary time to quantify and fully understand your objectives, especially the timing of future aims.
  • We will fully discuss your attitude to investment risk and take the time needed to teach you about this issue if you are new to investing. We use a questionnaire just to give us a starting point for our discussion.
  • When discussing risk we will also ask you about your capacity for loss and you may decide to either increase or decrease your risk level as a result. The ultimate level of investment risk taken is always your decision.
  • Your investment timescale, and how much money you might need in an emergency is also an important part of our discussions. Your investment timescale influences the level of risk that you are able to take. You can accept more risk if the timescale is longer and vice versa.
  • When we have agreed your level of risk tolerance and investment timescale we can allocate your investments or pension savings to suitable asset classes.
  • You may wish to invest in a particular area. This may be particularly relevant if you have strong social, environmental or ethical views.
  • For clients with between £50,000 and £150,000 to invest we favour low cost risk-targeted multi-asset/multi-manager funds because we don’t want to see your gains unnecessarily reduced by charges.
  • Larger investments (above £150,000) are allocated to one or several of our model portfolios or, you can select particular areas in which you wish to invest and we will recommend suitable funds. We would not wish to stray too far from the asset allocation that fits your risk profile but you will always be the ultimate decision-maker.
  • We usually recommend investments to be held on one of our preferred platforms, particularly if you hold a portfolio of funds.
  • Our model portfolios will be regularly re-balanced and your overall portfolio will be re-balanced depending on the review service you have selected.
  • We will continue to support you with regular review meetings according to the service you have selected.

It all sounds terribly formal but you will find your Arcaria adviser easy to get along with, and we are sure you will find the process enjoyable.
